Pick Analysis. 830. Scouting Report. QB. Cincinnati Bearcats. Desmond Ridder. 2. player

Desmond Ridder is a Group of 5 superstar, but with a relatively low ceiling

College football fans know all about Desmond Ridder, the starting quarterback of the greatest Group of 5 team the sport has ever seen. Ridder has played in a ton of big games leading the Cincinnati Bearcats to national prominence. While he lost his two biggest games in the last two seasons to Georgia and then Alabama, most teams lose to Georgia and Alabama these days.

Ridder is slender, but runs very well when the play breaks down. More importantly, he is not afraid of the big stage. His underdog mentality has helped transform the UC program from AAC contender to a marquee piece of the Big 12’s future. Ridder is certainly coachable, but his ceiling is not very high. He will need all the right pieces around him professionally to be any bit successful.

Overall, the Buccaneers may have enough players to give Ridder a decent chance at being an NFL starter, but it will be the equivalent of what the Philadelphia Eagles have in Jalen Hurts. Can you get behind him as your quarterback in the short-term? Totally. But when it comes to building an annual contender around, odds are, you are probably always going to be wanting a little more.

If the Buccaneers want to draft the next Jalen Hurts, then they can go select Desmond Ridder.
