2022 NFL Mock Draft: Buccaneers, Steelers draft Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger successors

The New York Jets hold two of the top-10 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, including their first selection here at No. 4 overall. This is a team that has a lot of work to do this offseason, but they appear to have their franchise quarterback in Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick last year.

Picking early in the first round once again, New York turns their attention to the defensive side of the ball and gets a player some consider the most talented in this draft class. Kayvon Thibodeaux would fill a huge void on this roster coming off the edge, giving Robert Saleh his Nick Bosa in New York.

Picking right after the New York Jets will be the New York Giants, who recently named former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll head coach. Daboll comes to New York alongside another member of the Bills organization, Joe Shoen, and they will be tasked with turning around one of the worst franchises in the NFL in the last five years.

Like the Jets, the Giants will have two picks in the top-10, as they pick here at No. 5 overall, but also a few selections later at No. 7. For starters, they have to improve upfront for quarterback Daniel Jones, which is why NC State mauler Ikem Ekwonu makes a lot of sense as they kick off Shoen’s first draft at the helm.

The Carolina Panthers were a team that struggled to find the right guy under center last season, starting everyone from Sam Darnold to Cam Newton. In 2022, they have to figure out who is going to be their starting quarterback moving forward, so it would not be out of the question for the first quarterback to come off the board here.

Looking at the quarterbacks this year, there is no consensus No. 1 prospect, but there are a handful of guys who could have high ceilings at the next level. Ole Miss star Matt Corral is one of them, and he is the first signal-caller off the board in our latest mock.
