Super Bowl 56 odds and preview: 5 best bets
By John Buhler
1. Super Bowl 56 MVP: Joe Burrow +225
If you think the Bengals are going to win the Super Bowl, then this is easily the best bet on the board. They are not going to upset the Rams on Sunday if Burrow does not play well. Given the position that he plays, he is the likeliest Bengal to win Super Bowl 56 MVP at +225. If you want to make even more money, take the Bengals on the moneyline as well in a nice little parlay here.
While taking Stafford to win Super Bowl MVP makes sense if you think the Rams are going to win, some of his Los Angeles teammates like Donald and wide receiver phenomenon Cooper Kupp could end up taking home the top individual honor. Unless Joe Mixon rushes for multiple touchdowns and close to 200 yards, the only other Bengal with a chance would be Ja’Marr Chase.
Because kickers don’t win Super Bowl MVPs and defensive players rarely do, it is wise to go with an offensive player. Since quarterbacks get a ton of praise when their teams win, all things equal, it is going to the winning quarterback above all else. With Burrow getting better odds over Stafford, this is the smarter play of the two if you do not have a rooting interest in this ballgame.
Simply put, Burrow will get more credit if his team wins the Super Bowl than will his counterpart.
