Buffalo Bills Mock Draft – 2nd Round

DT. Phidarian Mathis. player. 16. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Alabama. 57

One of the big questions for the Bills this offseason is what will happen with starting defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. Phillips was strong in 2021, but he’s a free agent and there figures to be heavy competition for him.

Phillips has come out and said that he wants to stay in Buffalo, but it’s up in the air if that happens. If he does leave town, Buffalo would have to find his replacement. Could Alabama defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis fit the bill?

The 6-foot-4, 312-pound Mathis plugs holes like he was born to do so. For the Crimson Tide this past season, Mathis was a force in the trenches. He finished the year with 53 total tackles and nine sacks. So, not only is he great at stopping running backs up the middle, but he can put heavy pressure on the quarterback as well.

In the second round, Buffalo holds the No. 57 overall pick. Mathis could be on the board here. If he is, Buffalo would be wise to go with him.
