8. Nick Foles

Foles was a great story in 2017, but people are going to look back and wonder how the hell he beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Foles authored one of the great stories in NFL lore, replacing the injured Carson Wentz and guiding the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.

After replacing Wentz in December of that year, Foles didn’t look the part of a savior until the playoffs came around. The Eagles became the first team in league history to be an underdog as a No. 1 seed in the Divisional round, but they were able to beat the Atlanta Falcons before crushing the also-favored Minnesota Vikings in the NFC title game.

In the Super Bowl, Foles was phenomenal. He outdueled Brady by throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns while catching another on the now-famous Philly Special.
