2. Make the move for Zion Williamson

Every team in the league could make the move for Zion Williamson make sense, but is there a better situation for this superstar in the making than paying on the San Antonio Spurs for Gregg Popovich? There are some questions about his motivation after he has missed most of the season this year, but this is the same player who kept playing at Duke after a Nike shoe exploded on his foot. He did that only because he wanted to win a championship. He was a guaranteed number-one overall pick.

Coming to San Antonio gives Popovich the chance to mold one more superstar before riding off into the sunset. He had his first dynasty thanks to turning the talent that was Tim Duncan into one of the best of all time. He can do the same with Williamson. It’s hard to build a dynasty in any sport without a superstar. It’s impossible to do it in the NBA. Popovich doesn’t have his next superstar on the roster right now. Trading for Williamson would do that.

It would cost a ton to get Williamson, but having one of the top picks in the NBA Draft this season would be an asset not many others have to give. The Pelicans would ask for more, but their asset is in a weird spot. Everyone is talking about how they have to give Williamson that crazy max extension. Let the Spurs take that risk. It’s better for everyone involved. The Spurs aren’t the big market team that Williamson might want, but they are still a premiere franchise with the best coach in the business.
