Matt Nagy is out of a job, but he has a deep history coaching with Andy Reid

It may not be popular, but it just might happen. With former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy looking for a job, he may just return to Kansas City and reunite with Coach Reid. His playing career ended as a practice squad player for the 2009 Eagles. The former offensive interim followed Reid from Philadelphia to Kansas City in 2013. By 2018, Nagy got to lead his own NFL team in Chicago.

As with other offensive disciples under Reid, Nagy did not call plays. Though he did lead the Bears to the playoffs twice in his four-year run in Chicago, their offense was not exactly creative. While reaching into one’s past is never ideal, who says you can’t go home? Nagy would be able to offset the Chiefs losing Kafka to the Giants, as well as Bieniemy potentially pursuing other opportunities.

But more importantly, Nagy now has ample head-coaching experience. He may not be in the big chair in Kansas City, but he can provide an extra pair of eyes for Reid from a different vantage point than the last time they worked together. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has used his previous head-coaching experience to his advantage in Kansas City, so why couldn’t Nagy?

If Bieniemy leaves, expect for the Chiefs to look at adding Nagy or Coen to their coaching staff.
