Final NFL power rankings after Rams win Super Bowl 56
NFL Power Rankings: 21-19
Make it six straight seasons that the Denver Broncos have not been back to the playoffs. And it’s now been five consecutive years that the club has finished with a losing record. Rookie running back Davonte Williams had a solid debut campaign but inconsistent play at quarterback doomed this team again.
Denver finished last in the AFC West for the second straight year and head coach Vic Fangio was let go after a combined 19-30 record in three seasons.
John Harbaugh’s club lost their share of running backs before the season began. Still, the Ravens owned an 8-3 record after 11 games and appeared headed toward the playoffs for the fourth straight year.
But injuries and other issues caught up with this club. Baltimore allowed the most passing yards in the NFL. It added up to a season-ending six-game losing streak, a berth in the AFC North basement and the club’s first losing campaign since 2015.
Off their 2020 showing in which the team reached the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and won a playoff game for the first time since 1994, expectations were high in the city of Cleveland.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield was not healthy most of the season and it cost the team. And a bolstered defensive unit didn’t show up on a week-to-week basis. It added up to another losing season for a team that’s finished above .500 three times since 1999.
