7. Super Bowl 57 favorites – Tennessee Titans

It certainly looked like the path was open for Tennessee to get to the Super Bowl this year. A down AFC allowed the Titans to snag home-field advantage with a 12-5 record, securing the top overall seed and avoiding the possibility of having to defeat both the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills to reach Los Angeles for the big game.

Tennessee didn’t even get out of the divisional round, getting upset by the Bengals at home thanks in part to three critical interceptions from Ryan Tannehill. There have been calls for the Titans to explore making a move for Aaron Rodgers, but at this point, it seems more likely for Tennessee to stay the course with Tannehill.

The winning formula for Tennessee involves a strong defense, punishing running from Derrick Henry, and mistake-free football from Tannehill. That recipe did help the Titans secure home-field this season even without Henry for half the season, but circumstances likely worked in Tennessee’s favor here as well.

The good news is that the AFC South remains weak, giving Mike Vrabel’s team a tremendous chance to win the division and host another playoff game. Tannehill’s limitations as a passer, combined with concerns over how Henry’s heavy workload over the past few years will impact him going forward, make it harder to have the Titans any higher than this.
