6. Super Bowl 57 favorites – Green Bay Packers

This selection is obviously contingent on the status of Rodgers, who hasn’t decided whether to return to Green Bay for another season. The Packers’ brass has made it known they will happily welcome Rodgers back since his presence would shoot Green Bay much higher up this list.

Rodgers played at an MVP level again in 2021 as the Packers secured home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs for a second consecutive year. The air came out of the balloon in the postseason as Rodgers led the offense to just 10 points in a Divisional Round loss to the 49ers at Lambeau Field.

Besides the big quarterback question, Green Bay has salary cap concerns as they enter the offseason $50 million over the threshold, which is problematic since they still need to find a way to retain Davante Adams and other key free agents. The New Orleans Saints have shown us that you can mortgage the future with the cap if you are creative enough, a scenario that the Packers will happily explore if Rodgers wants to return for another year.

The upside for Green Bay is immense since there are no clear challengers in the NFC North, opening a path to the NFC’s top seed once again. This all is a moot point if Rodgers leaves, however, since that could lead to the Packers blowing up their roster to rebuild around 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.
