4. Super Bowl 57 favorites – Dallas Cowboys

It feels like the Cowboys have been knocking on the door of Super Bowl contention for a while but the franchise hasn’t played in an NFC Championship Game since 1996. Early playoff exits have plagued a talented roster, including this year’s loss to the 49ers on Super Wild Card Weekend.

The heat has undoubtedly been raised on head coach Mike McCarthy, who will be looking over his shoulder now that Sean Payton is out of the game and heavily rumored to be the next Cowboys coach whenever McCarthy gets fired. A healthy Dak Prescott does give Dallas one of the best offenses in the NFL, which will help the Cowboys’ Super Bowl odds in a quarterback-driven league.

The quarterback movement out of the NFC should also benefit Dallas, which moves up one place in the conference’s hierarchy now that Tom Brady has retired. If the Packers do send Aaron Rodgers into the AFC, that would push the Cowboys even closer to favorite status in the NFC.

A weak NFC East should also continue to benefit Dallas, which can fatten up on rebuilding divisional foes to put themselves in contention for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If the Cowboys can’t take advantage of this opportunity to get back to a Super Bowl few would blame Jerry Jones for trying to lure Payton out of his sabbatical in 2023.
