Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft – 3rd Round

94. 124. S. Illinois. Kerby Joseph. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

At No. 94 overall in the third round, could the Chiefs stick with the defensive side of the ball? If they do, Illinois safety Kerby Joseph in the third round may be what’s needed here from Veach. This all really depends on what happens with Tyrann Mathieu.

After the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, Mathieu was in tears when asked whether or not he’ll return to this team next season. The two sides were unable to agree to a contract extension before 2021 got underway.

Now, Mathieu’s future with the Chiefs is unclear. He wants to come back to Kansas City, but the Chiefs could look elsewhere for help in the secondary instead of paying him the kind of money that he deserves.

With Joseph, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety was a First-Team All-Big-Ten selection this past season. Joseph recorded 57 tackles, five interceptions, two pass deflections and three forced fumbles. Landing him in the third round could be considered a steal for the Chiefs.

Pick Analysis. Ole Miss. Sam Williams . 105. player. Scouting Report. DE . 124

Depending on how things shape out early in the draft, Kansas City could look at defensive end as well for its second third-round selection. This is an extra third-rounder for Kansas City after the team saw Ryan Poles leave for Chicago to take over as general manager. KC will receive another third-round compensatory pick in 2023 too.

At No. 105 overall, defensive end Sam Williams may still be up for grabs and the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder was known for wreaking havoc against SEC offensive lines. Last year, Williams had a head-turning 12.5 sacks.
