5 moves to make the Yankees World Series champions

5) Yankees move to make them World Series champions: Trade for Luis Castillo
A starting pitcher might not be the most urgent need for the Yankees. Nevertheless, many of the guys they do have lined up in their rotation have some question marks. Outside of Gerrit Cole, does anyone really know what’s next for guys like Jordan Montgomery or Jameson Taillon?
A trade with the Cincinnati Reds for Luis Castillo is a power move the Yankees can make to make their rotation better. He’s young and probably the best guy out there on the trade market.
In order to do this, the Yankees would need to either demote Domingo German to the bullpen or move on from him completely. He wasn’t very good in his return last year. He could serve them as a potential depth piece in case of injury. We already know at least one starter will go down. They always do.
A potential Castillo the Yankees trade hasn’t been discussed this winter because their biggest needs are elsewhere. The team is one of the most secure with its biggest weakness being the yearly injuries that seem to pop up and dismantle their championship hopes.
Making two or even three of the moves mentioned here can help solve this. This coming season has the potential to be a huge one for the Yankees. It starts with making championship-caliber moves.
