Freddie Freeman rumors: Make sure Rob Manfred isn’t lying
This is easier said than done.
Last week, Manfred insisted that a universal DH would be part of any new collective bargaining agreement between the owners and players. So, that should eliminate some of the Braves’ concerns, no?
The Braves are worried about Freeman’s defensive consistency in his late-30’s, right? Well, even if Freeman were to become a liability at first base as he ages, he could transition to a full-time designated hitter as so many before him have been able to do. Look no further than Miguel Cabrera, who should come nowhere near first base the next few years for the Detroit Tigers.
The only difference? Freeman doesn’t have the sort of injury history that Miggy does, so he should be more consistent at the plate late into his career.
