5 landing spots for Davante Adams in 2022 NFL free agency
2. Top free-agent fits for Davante Adams – Denver Broncos
On paper, Adams doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Broncos since they already have a dynamic young receiving core featuring Jerry Jeudy, Cortland Sutton and Tim Patrick. Adding a guy like Adams would seem like a luxury, but the Broncos have been the most rumored destination for a Rodgers trade since last April.
There were reports prior to the 2021 draft that Denver was willing to trade for Rodgers in hopes of duplicating their success with an aging Peyton Manning, who won an MVP for them and helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Adding Rodgers would be a masterstroke for the Broncos, who are potentially a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.
There are questions as to whether Rodgers would want to try and win a division that already features Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, but if he does want to go to Denver it is a near certainty that Adams would come along. The Broncos have over $38 million in cap space, which would allow Adams to get paid and re-unite in Rodgers in Denver.
The wide receiver log-jam could also be cleared if Denver includes someone like Sutton in a trade package going to Green Bay for Rodgers. The potential of signing Adams and trading for Rodgers would certainly get Broncos fans very excited for the 2022 season.
