1. Top free-agent fits for Davante Adams – Green Bay Packers

At the end of the day, the most logical fit for Adams is to simply stay put in Green Bay. This outcome seemed unlikely last summer when Adams and Rodgers strongly implied that this would be their last ride with the Packers but Rodgers’ recent comments indicate that he is more willing to stay put.

It would make sense for Rodgers to stay since Tom Brady has retired and multiple members of the Rams have hinted at retirement after their Super Bowl win, making the NFC more hospitable for a run at the Lombardi Trophy. Green Bay also would likely only entertain trades of Rodgers to an AFC team, where the path to the Super Bowl would be much more difficult than the one he has right now.

The salary cap is certainly problematic for Green Bay, which is nearly $51 million over the threshold entering the offseason, but the New Orleans Saints have shown you can kick the can pretty far down the road if you want to win right now. The Packers are certainly willing to do anything they can to make Rodgers happy so he stays and that would include finding a way to keep Adams in town as his top target.

The smartest bet to make this offseason is that Adams will end up wherever Rodgers chooses to play in 2022. The most logical decision for Rodgers to make if he wants to win another ring is to stay put so the smart money says Adams’ best free-agent fit is to simply re-sign with the Packers.
