2022 NFL Draft: Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock
Round 5: Neil Farrell, Jr
Farrell is a strong, bid-bodied prospect who projects nicely as a depth piece at defensive tackle for the Eagles. There’s a chance he can develop into a starter with some added urgency to his game, but his size and strength give him a high floor as a prospect. He should be ready to give Philadelphia reserve snaps as a rookie.
Round 5: Sterling Weatherford
Weatherford stands out as an intriguing safety prospect largely because of his size. There just aren’t many guys who measure in at close to 6-foot-4 who make a lot of plays deep in the secondary.
If Weatherford were an elite athlete he’d be going in Round 2. Questions about his speed and agility will make him a Day 3 selection. The Eagles can comfortably deploy him as a safety in the box net season to help stop the run. Add in some special teams value and it’s easy to see him giving this team a nice lift.
Round 5: Cole Turner
Dallas Goedert is firmly entrenched as Philadelphia’s No. 1 tight end, but losing Zach Ertz still leaves room for a quality No. 2 option to emerge. Turner might not be ready to assume that role as a rookie, but his size and route-running ability give him a chance to thrive as a secondary option in time.
Round 6: Jarrett Patterson
Drafting Patterson would give the Eagles more depth in the middle of their offensive line. He’s best deployed at the center position where he can compete with Jack Anderson for backup snaps. His interior power is his real asset but Patterson can be exposed when he’s asked to do too much in space.
