Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft – Fourth Round

TE. Charlie Kolar. 127. player. 123. Iowa State. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

One of the most interesting decisions that the Cowboys will face in the offseason comes at tight end. Dalton Schultz had his most productive year as a pro, catching 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns, putting him in position to cash in as a free agent this winter.

The Cowboys could opt to place the franchise tag on Schultz, but since they are over the cap they may opt to let him test the market. Even if the tag is used, it would be smart for Dallas to give themselves a potential long-term answer at tight end since the depth chart beyond Schultz is lacking.

This is where Iowa State’s Charlie Kolar comes in. A 6-foot-6 tight end, Kolar is advanced as a receiver, showcasing an ability to run routes at a high level while also working the middle of the defense to help out his quarterback.

The reason that Kolar isn’t rated higher on draft boards is because his blocking leaves a lot to be desired. Dallas can afford to take a flyer on Kolar’s receiving upside here and work with him on improving as a run-blocker in the future.
