1. Top free-agent landing spots for Jameis Winston – New Orleans Saints

Sean Payton may be gone but the Saints still remain as the best landing spot for Winston. New Orleans’ decision to promote defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to head coach will maintain valuable continuity with the Saints, allowing Winston the chance to continue to grow in an offense he played well in a year ago.

Winston was putting up strong numbers in New Orleans before he got hurt, completing 59 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns against just three interceptions over seven games. The Saints were also winning with Winston, going 5-2 with him as the starter as opposed to 4-6 in games started by either Hill or Trevor Siemian.

That offensive production is even more impressive for Winston since he didn’t have his top receiver, Michael Thomas, all season. The NFC South is ripe for the taking with Tom Brady retiring and the Saints have dominated the Buccaneers recently, which would give Winston a reasonable path to play in the postseason for the first time.

The Saints do have salary cap issues but they should be able to find a way to keep Winston in the fold for the 2022 campaign. The fact that Winston is coming off a serious knee injury also makes a return to New Orleans a great option since he can continue working with the Saints’ medical staff, helping create a smoother road to recovery for Winston.
