Harold Landry could take what has worked for him in Nashville up to Foxborough

Harold Landry is coming off his best professional season as a star pass-rusher for the Tennessee Titans. Making his first career trip to the Pro Bowl and getting 12 sacks will certainly help in the negotiating process. Though he could be a prime candidate for the Titans to slap the franchise tag on, there is a shot he could be overvalued on the open market. Might the Patriots come knocking?

Landry did play his college ball nearby at Boston College. Not only that, but he plays for one of Belichick’s former Patriots players in Mike Vrabel down in Nashville. While it is not 100 percent a congruent fit by going from the Titans to the Patriots, there is reason to believe Landry could find immediate success if he were to venture up to Foxborough. He would be in a position to succeed.

Ultimately, the Patriots cannot afford to pay a gross premium for a player like Landry. While he is an excellent one, they are not loaded with available cap space to overpay for a good, but not great player. Then again, he might provide exactly what Belichick is looking for when it comes to revamping his defensive front-seven. The Titans might tag him, but Landry is about to get paid.

Look for the Patriots to be one of the teams potentially kicking the tires on Landry in free agency.
