Kansas City Chiefs

Another playoff team that wasn’t able to power through to the Super Bowl was the Kansas City Chiefs, who led early in the AFC Championship before being limited to three points in the second half.

While Patrick Mahomes is forced to reckon with his tendency to unnecessarily abandon the pocket and divert from the playbook, the Chiefs offense is still high-scoring even while the Chiefs improvise quite often. The credit goes to Mahomes for being able to make those plays happen, but it also goes to his receivers who sprint to where he needs them and who secure the catch. Travis Kelce offers a slanted security blanket that is incredibly clutch, and Tyreek Hill is a nightmare matchup when he turns up the speed. Still, the Chiefs could always use another great receiver, and that receiver could be Chris Godwin.

Godwin is expected to be healthy in 2022, and the Chiefs may even be able to get him for a discounted price because he’s coming off an injury. If anyone knows high-risk/high-reward, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs, although the only gamble here is whether or not Godwin will be in full form. If he is, he could become an indispensable part of the Chiefs offense and could help Kelce in the slot with the speed to offer down-field options.

The Chiefs won big when it came to rebuilding their offensive line last offseason, and a Godwin addition is a fantastic way for the Chiefs to stay on top in the AFC.
