5 targets for Broncos in 2022 NFL free agency
By John Buhler
Denver may want to get another year out of Kyle Fuller in the defensive backfield
After spending the first six years of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears, Kyle Fuller played the 2021 campaign for the Broncos. While one could argue this was the least productive season of his career, going to a new team takes some getting used to. With Hackett having competed against in the NFC North before, it would not be shocking to the Fuller re-up with the Broncos this spring.
Fuller may have just turned 30 years old, but one would think his type of game will age pretty well into his mid-30s as a professional. Though he has not played for a ton of great teams over the years, there is a chance the Broncos could be the 2022 version of the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they get a massive upgrade at quarterback. They have talent everywhere else.
Ultimately, this will come down to price and scheme. Fuller will be one of the more sought-after cornerbacks hitting the open market. Even if he is coming off somewhat of a down year for him, the market may not view him that way. Should Hackett and general manager George Paton present a compelling plan for how the Broncos contend next season, Fuller could be coming back.
The Broncos do not need to pay out the wazoo, but they need to be a finalist in his free agency.
