3. Tyrann Mathieu

Teams looking for a top-tier strong safety will definitely have their eye on Tyrann Mathieu, whose three-year stint with the Chiefs looks like it’s coming to an end.

Mathieu was a Pro Bowler for the third time with Kansas City this past season. His first two years with the team featured first-team All-Pro nods.

There is no shortage of ways for Mathieu to impact a defense. He’s strong in coverage against tough matchups, bringing in 26 interceptions in his career. He’s also stout against the run and isn’t afraid to get in the thick of things.

The biggest concern around Mathieu is his age. He’ll turn 30 years old in May so whatever team goes in for him has to wonder if he’ll experience a drop-off during the course of his next contract.

Despite that risk, he’d be a strong addition to pretty much any defense out there. He should be a priority for teams in the market for a veteran presence to take put them over the top.
