Rich Paul puts an end to Lakers-LeBron James drama

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul met with the Los Angeles Lakers and said they are not looking for management changes.

The talk during and after the NBA All-Star break has involved the relationship between star LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Yet, James’ agent Rich Paul reportedly put an end to the drama and speculation.

Paul, the Klutch Sports CEO, met with Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka this past Tuesday, and let them know that he is not pushing for management changes, per ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Additionally, Paul said that James’ “primary objective” is to remain with the Lakers and finish out the campaign strong before meeting with the team in the offseason to find ways to improve.

The Lakers, much like they have in years past, went for big splash moves to help improve their chances or winning the NBA Playoffs. That strategy has not worked out in the past two years, as Los Angeles were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Suns last year and they are currently in ninth-place in the Western Conference as of this writing on Friday, Feb. 25.

Perhaps the most shocking thing was that Pelinka and the Lakers opted against making any moves at the trade deadline and staying put.

During the All-Star break, James revealed in an interview with The Athletic that he is not closing the door on a potential return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

On Thursday Shams Charania of The Athletic appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and said he did not see any scenario where James would leave the Lakers for the Cavaliers and that James planned on remaining in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future.

Based off Wojnarowski’s report, there is no impending exit for James.
