The Broncos have as good of a chance as anyone to end up with Davante Adams

No doubt about it, Davante Adams is the crown jewel of 2022 NFL free agency. While he could conceivably be slapped with the franchise tag in Green Bay, that does not seem to be the right course of action for a top-tier wide receiver in the league. Adams has spent his entire professional career in Green Bay. Though he could return on a long-term extension, Denver is another option.

Adams grew up on the West Coast and played his college ball at Fresno State. Though Denver is in a time zone east of California, the Broncos do have the available cap space to afford to pay him a premium. Adams would become Denver’s No. 1 receiving option upon arrival, arguably their best player as well. He may have played for Hackett, but him coming to Denver is about one thing only.

If Adams signs with the Broncos, it makes it more likely Denver general manager George Paton can assemble a trade package for Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst to pry Rodgers out of Green Bay. Denver has been one of the more likely destinations if Rodgers is traded. They are a quarterback away from contention. He knows the offense and would have his top target in Adams.

Wherever Adams ends up may tip the scales as to what Rodgers wants to do next football season.
