Stephon Gilmore could reunite with Brian Flores on this new Steelers defense

With Brian Flores joining Mike Tomlin’s defensive staff, it signifies that some former New England Patriots, or maybe even some former Miami Dolphins, will be making their way to Western Pennsylvania this offseason. One player who could potentially follow his former Patriots defensive assistant to a new AFC team would have to be perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore had been with the Patriots up until midway through last year. He ended up finishing the second half of the 2021 campaign with his hometown Carolina Panthers. Though the Rock Hill, South Carolina native could return for a second year in the Queen City, Pittsburgh is more likely to win its division over Carolina. At this point of his illustrious career, what is Gilmore playing for?

Though he is not 100 percent a lock for Canton, a sixth trip to the Pro Bowl and maybe one more Super Bowl run gets him there indisputably? While the Steelers do need to address quarterback one way or another, just imagine Gilmore playing in the same Pittsburgh secondary with Minkah Fitzpatrick. With Watt very much in his prime, this Steelers defense could be unreal next season.

Flores will get one of his former players to Pittsburgh and Gilmore has to be in consideration here.
