Dalton Schultz is the top tight end set to hit the free-agent market and these five teams would be the best landing spots for him.

Finding a good tight end is very difficult in the modern NFL since the position’s best players have to be capable blockers as well as receiving threats. There is an intriguing free-agent class of tight ends set to hit the market with the top name on the board being Dalton Schultz.

After setting career highs in receptions (78), receiving yards (808) and touchdowns (8) in 2021 Schultz is in a prime position to get paid as a lot of teams are in need of help at the tight end position. Let’s take a look at five teams that could be a good fit for Schultz, beginning with a Super Bowl participant.

5. Top landing spots for Dalton Schultz – Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow played a big role in helping the Bengals get to the Super Bowl last season and his strong supporting cast on offense was a big help. One guy who actually became a vital part of the offense for Cincinnati in the postseason was tight end C.J. Uzomah, who became Burrow’s security blanket in the middle of the field.

Uzomah recorded 15 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs, but a knee injury suffered in the AFC Championship Game limited his ability to be an impact player in the Super Bowl. Injuries are a lingering concern for Uzomah, who missed all but two games in the 2020 campaign due to an Achilles’ injury and is set to test free agency this offseason.

Cincinnati has over $50 million in salary cap room and can afford to make a splash with Schultz, who would be an upgrade over Uzomah and a perfect complement to the Bengals’ outside receivers. Adding a player like Schultz could help the Bengals take the next step forward in their evolution as an NFL superpower.
