4. Top landing spots for Dalton Schultz – Minnesota Vikings

Another intriguing landing spot for Schultz is in Minnesota since the Vikings have a big hole to fill at tight end. Salary cap concerns forced the Vikings to move on from Kyle Rudolph last offseason and they were never able to adequately replace his production in 2021.

Tyler Conklin was a good secondary option in the Minnesota passing attack, catching 61 passes for 593 yards and three touchdowns, but he wasn’t someone opposing defenses had to worry about. A trade with the New York Jets for Chris Herndon didn’t pan out either as Herndon caught just four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Adding Schultz would give the Vikings a strong tight end combo with him and Conklin, who would be much more effective as the system’s No. 2 tight end. New head coach Kevin O’Connell also comes from the Los Angeles Rams, whose offensive system often features two tight ends to help set up the rest of the scheme.

The question here is who will be under center for Minnesota since there are rumors that Kirk Cousins could be traded in the offseason. If Cousins stays put, this would be a good marriage between player and team.
