3. Top landing spots for Dalton Schultz – Indianapolis Colts

It wasn’t that long ago that the Indianapolis Colts were known for being a hotbed for tight end production. Marcus Pollard and Dallas Clark gave Indianapolis some excellent stats at the position in Peyton Manning’s prime but the position has become a wasteland for the Colts in recent years.

Mo Alie-Cox and Jack Doyle were the top tight ends for the Colts last season and neither made a tremendous impact in the passing game. Indianapolis has tried free agent fixes in the past, notably adding Trey Burton a few years ago, but that move flopped as well.

Schultz would offer a significant upgrade over the Colts’ internal options and give them another much-needed weapon in the passing game. While Indianapolis is unquestionably a run-first offense with All-Pro Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, Schultz adds value both as a blocker and as a red zone threat.

The Colts have plenty of cap room to afford a strong contract for Schultz in order to put more weapons in their passing attack. Who is throwing those passes remains an open question but Indianapolis would be an excellent landing spot for Schultz.
