Pick Analysis. WR. New England Patriots. Jakobi Meyers. 2. player. Scouting Report. 47

Jakobi Meyers could be even better catching balls from Derek Carr in Las Vegas

While the Patriots have done a miserable job of drafting wide receivers throughout the Bill Belichick era, they were able to sign one as an undrafted free agent with some promise in Jakobi Meyers. He is coming off his best season out of North Carolina State with Mac Jones rifling him the pigskin. Given that he will not turn 26 years old until November, he is far from a finished product.

Though he could stay a part of The Patriot Way in Foxborough on another contract, how good will Meyers be without McDaniels calling the plays? It is why this offseason is so critical for Meyers. He cannot afford to go to a team with uncertainties on offense. Though Jones will surely be able to have success in his second year with the Patriots, following McDaniels makes sense for Meyers.

Not only would he be following his former offensive coordinator, but he would be joining a receiving corps with the likes of Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller at tight end. Let’s not overlook the fact that Derek Carr is still very much in his prime as a franchise quarterback. The best way for him to not skip a beat is to get him an offensive weapon who already knows McDaniels’ scheme.

It would not be shocking if a free agent wide receiver or two follows McDaniels over to Las Vegas.
