2. Re-Sign De’Vondre Campbell

The salary cap is the number one reason De’Vondre Campbell could end up walking away from the Packers in free agency, but it doesn’t have to guarantee his departure.

Campbell is too good to let go. He was an All-Pro first-teamer and one of the stars of the defense. Rodgers gives the Packers a platform for Super Bowl contention but he won’t raise any trophies without a stout defense supporting him.

Affording Campbell is a matter of will.

Green Bay has already restructured deals for Kenny Clark, Aaron Jones and David Bakhtiari in a bid to get under the cap. The message to the rest of the team needs to be clear: It’s Super Bowl or bust.

More contracts need to be restructured. Aggressive extensions need to be pursued. Use roster bonuses. Get creative. Do what needs to be done to make the 2022 roster as powerful as possible.
