2. Baltimore Ravens

Over the last few seasons, John Harbaugh’s club has seen its share of free-agent defections when it comes to the defensive side of the ball. And the Baltimore Ravens have seen their share of standout performers from the front seven depart lately. From Terrell Suggs, Za’Darius Smith and C.J. Mosley in 2019 to Matt Judon, Yannick Ngakoue and Jihad Ward this past offseason.

After making three straight playoff appearances, the club is coming off a disappointing 8-9 season and will take a six-game losing streak into the next season. Injuries played a large part in the club’s subpar showing, especially in the offensive backfield as well as the secondary. Combine those free-agent departures with not having cornerback Marcus Peters for all of 2021 — and eventually losing Marlon Humphrey — was a big factor in the Ravens allowing the most passing yards in the league.

Defensive coordinator Don Martindale was let go and replaced by Mike Macdonald. This past season, fifth-year pro Tyus Bowser led the team with seven sacks, followed by rookie Odafe Oweh (5.0) and free-agent addition Justin Houston (4.5). But the team came up with only 34 sacks in 17 contests. Houston is one of many potential free agents this year and Von Miller could fill a big void.
