Dog Collar Match: CM Punk vs. MJF

CM Punk and MJF are about spill buckets of blood come Sunday.

The duo engaged in a lengthy war of words since late last year, with MJF avoiding getting into a physical confrontation with Punk. The match eventually happened in Punk’s hometown of Chicago on the Feb. 2 episode of Dynamite. MJF initially defeated Punk after choking him with his wrist tape when the referee wasn’t looking. After the ref discovered MJF’s underhanded tactics, the match restarted. MJF won again after hitting Punk with the Dynamite Diamond ring, which was handed to him by Wardlow.

Punk wanted revenge, and he got it by teaming with Jon Moxley to defeat FTR, allowing him to pick the time, place and stipulation for his match with MJF. Punk chose Revolution for the most brutal match stipulation in wrestling history — the Dog Collar Match.

Since, MJF showed a different side, one of concern. He then gave what is bound to be the “Promo of the Year,” talking about the disappointment he felt when Punk, his former idol, left professional wrestling in 2014. Punk asked if MJF’s passionate and emotional claims were true, which he confirmed. On the March 2 episode of Dynamite, Punk called MJF to the ring and extended his arm for a handshake. MJF hugged Punk, until showing his true colors and kicked him below the belt. Then, MJF bloodied Punk with the Dynamite Diamond before taking the mic, using Punk’s own words from an infamous Ring of Honor promo.

"“I’m a snake. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn’t exist…I’m going to show you and all these mindless sheep that I am the devil himself.”"

The storyline has been fantastic, and it will result in both stars wearing leather dog collars around their necks, connected by several yards of steel chain, which can be used as a weapon. The only way to win is by pinfall or submission.

Given what has transpired in this feud and that MJF won their first match, Punk gets his revenge and pick up the victory in what is going to be a battle.
