The Mississippi State Bulldogs may be known for great college baseball, but they don’t even look remotely good so far this season.

It looks like Chris Lemonis and the Mississippi State Bulldogs might be in some pretty big trouble early on in the season. While the Bulldogs were able to win a national title a season ago, they haven’t been able to win many games this season.

After a series loss on the road against the Tulane Green Wave, Mississippi State has a 6-6 record on the year. That’s the worst record the Bulldogs have had through 12 games and Mississippi State sits at the bottom of a very good SEC.

With Landon Sims getting hurt and the Bulldogs lacking any consistency out of their bullpen, it sure looks like the Bulldogs will need to readjust expectations for this season. Either that or they need to find some help as soon as possible.

Here’s what the college baseball rankings look like this week.

NCAA baseball rankings: Teams on the rise

UCLA Bruins

The UCLA Bruins looked sharp in Houston. The Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic is always a great event to be at, but this year it featured some truly unique matchups, like the Sunday meeting between the then-unbeaten Texas Longhorns and UCLA. The Bruins managed to beat Texas, becoming the first team to do that this season. This team has shown some blemishes at time, but it also has plenty of promise.

Others worth noting: Tennessee

Mississippi State Bulldogs

What more can be said about Mississippi State’s struggles? The Bulldogs lost their best pitcher to an injury. They blew a massive lead in game two against Tulane and ended up losing the series. Things are pretty bad for Mississippi State right now.

Others worth noting: Oklahoma State
