THE PLAYERS Championship best bets

Matt Fitzpatrick to Top 10 (+400)

In three full-field events on the PGA Tour in 2022, Matt Fitzpatrick hasn’t finished worse than T-10 and has gained strokes in every category in all but one of those starts, which was when he lost less than 1.0 stroke off the tee at Pebble Beach. His form has been immaculate to start the calendar year and he’s clearly trending towards a win (more on that shortly). If nothing else, though, getting +400 to finish in the Top 10 when he’s done nothing but that this year feels like unbelievable value.

Max Homa to Top 20 (+275)

Some people might view Max Homa as a popper rather than a consistent top player on the PGA Tour but he’s trending in the direction of the latter. He’s finished T-17 or better in his last three starts and in four of his five starts in 2022. His approach play has been lights-out of late and his overall ball-striking has been admirable as well, gaining 4.0 strokes or more tee-to-green in the last three tournaments. For a Top 20 at +275 odds, this is a great bet to put some investment into.

Corey Conners (-110) over Louis Oosthuizen

I’ve been waiting on Corey Conners to recapture his ball-striking form and we finally saw it last week as he finished T-11 despite losing over 3.0 strokes with the putter. Oosthuizen’s form has been erratic at best to start the year and, with Conners getting back to his steady ways coming into a tournament that he finished seventh at last year, I love this bet.

Corey Conners to Top 20 (+240)

Doubling down on Conners, I also think that form and obviously good recent history at THE PLAYERS Championship is a good recipe for him to finish inside the Top 20. The putter keeps from going for a Top 10 finish but, even then, getting these odds is a good look for the Canadian.
