The Los Angeles Chargers have pulled off a huge move, signing superstar cornerback JC Jackson to a mega-deal.

Cornerback JC Jackson knew he would ‘get the bag’ out in free agency and the Los Angeles Chargers have just delivered in a big way. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chargers and Jackson have agreed to a five-year deal worth $82.5 million.

That’s a whole lot of dough, but there’s no question Jackson deserves to be paid like one of the top defensive players out there. Per Schefter, a whopping $40 million in Jackson’s new deal will be guaranteed.

Chargers break the bank to sign JC Jackson: Signing grade

Los Angeles fans are freaking out on Twitter right now and rightfully so. Jackson was receiving plenty of interest in free agency, with the Bengals, Jets, 49ers and others looking to try and ink him to a new contract.

Instead, the Chargers were able to win him over and now this team looks set to go all-in to try and not only win the AFC West, but go on a deep postseason run too. With Justin Herbert getting ready to enter the prime of his career, the Chargers know that now is the time to make a splash.

With the Broncos bringing in Russell Wilson too, it’s only made the division even stronger. For Wilson, Patrick Mahomes and Derek Carr, they’ll now have the tough task in trying to throw on Jackson twice a year.

This past season, Jackson earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after posting 58 total tackles and a head-turning eight interceptions with the Patriots. The year before, Jackson recorded nine interceptions. He’ll be ready to bring his ball-hawking ways to the Chargers defense. This is a monster get for the team, especially after they already traded for Khalil Mack too.
