No one was happier to see Davante Adams join the Las Vegas Raiders than the team’s punter, AJ Cole.

In the midst of the NCAA Tournament, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to break the internet. On Thursday night, the Raiders successfully negotiated a trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams and immediately signed him to a five-year, $141.25 million contract.

While quarterback Derek Carr was happy to reunite with his former Fresno State teammate, no one was more ecstatic about Adams joining the Raiders than punter AJ Cole. Why’s that? Because he, in his words, will never have to punt again.

Whether there will not be a lot of punting from Cole remains to be seen, considering how the defenses of the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos have all been fortified in preparation for the electric offenses of all four division rivals. The Raiders were not alone in making huge additions to their defensive squad for coordinator Patrick Graham to utilize.

On Wednesday, they signed Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Chandler Jones to a massive five-year contract and acquired cornerback Rock Ya-Sin from the Indianapolis Colts.

To bring Adams to Las Vegas, general manager Dave Ziegler traded their first- and second-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to the Packers. With this, Adams now joins the team’s passing attack consisting of tight end Darren Waller and wide receivers Hunter Renfrow and Bryan Edwards.

Ahead of the 2022 season, be sure to keep a log of the dates of the AFC West divisional games, because they are going to be nothing short of entertaining.
