Why are we ignoring Giannis?

It just seems like every season, the narrative around Giannis Antetokounmpo is an understatement. It’s like he’s not appreciated in his own time. He’s one of the most dominating superstars in recent memory. He’s every bit as dominant as LeBron James was at his age, yet we look at Giannis as just another great basketball player. This is one of the all-time greats in his absolute prime.

The Milwaukee Bucks could earn the number-one seed in the Eastern Conference. This would put them in a star-studded matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets might have to go through Giannis in the first round, yet they are still the favorites to win the conference. If that’s no disrespect…

Giannis could be a top-ten player in the history of the league when it’s all said and done. He has the ability to be even higher than that if everything goes right. He’s looking to get his second straight championship. Ask yourself this; how many people realize Giannis is the defending NBA champ? Is anyone talking about this narrative? Would this be ignored if it was LeBron? What about Curry? Or Durant? Giannis just seems like he’s destined to be ignored.

Maybe it’s because he plays in sleepy Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It’s possible that his quiet demeanor makes it easier to ignore what he’s doing. Either way, we need to appreciate what he’s doing, and Giannis will force that upon us when he ends up dominating in the playoffs once again.
