NFL Draft
Wake Forest offensive lineman Zach Tom: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports /

Pick Analysis. Wake Forest. player. 53. 118. Scouting Report. Offensive Line. Zach Tom

The Browns spent a lot of this draft worrying about the defensive line, but they also have issues on the offensive line. Jack Conklin is sticking around, but a ruptured patella tendon could cause him to play below his expectations. Jedrick Willis is playing at the other tackle position, and he might be good, but the jury is still out on him. They need depth on the line. That has to be a priority, especially with Watson coming in after a year off.

Zach Tom is an interesting prospect for the Browns. Getting him on day three of the draft would be a good deal. There’s a chance he might not be available here, but there were mock drafts that had him available this late in the draft.

His timing on the field in impeccable, and he does a good job matching his hands and feet. His athleticism keeps him ahead of pass rushers, which is a trait that might grow even further in the NFL.

The biggest issue for the Browns here is hoping a player like Tom is available when they pick at 118. It might be smart for them to switch Tom with Malone to have the best chance of getting both, but it’s a risk either way. There are so many interesting athletes in the middle rounds, and it’s hard to know who the other teams will fall in love with. Either way, the Browns need to come out of their top four picks (barring any trades) with a wide receiver, at least one defensive lineman, and someone for depth on the offensive line.
