Pittsburgh Steelers full 2022 NFL mock draft
Round 6: Jeremiah Moon
The Steelers’ 3-4 base alignment gives them a unique ability to draft talented players who only really fit in their scheme late in the draft. Moon has the athleticism required to play as an outside linebacker in their system but lacks the size to hold up in a more conventional 4-3.
He’ll need a lot of help in terms of technique at the next level to truly harness his athletic traits. It’s possible his best skill at the next level might be as a coverage linebacker. At worst, he’ll give the Steelers solid snaps on special teams as a rookie.
Round 7: Dontario Drummond
Drummond’s draft stock is depressed because he’s going to enter the NFL as a 25-year-old rookie. The Steelers can take advantage of that fact by nabbing the big, speedy slot in Round 7.
He only projects as a depth piece right away, but he could help soften the blow of JuJu Smith-Schuster’s departure. He does possess the speed to get behind opposing secondaries which makes him a receiver worth drafting.
Round 7: Tyrone Truesdell
Truesdell is a big-bodied interior defensive lineman whose potential outshined his production in college. The Steelers would do well to gamble on him near the end of the draft. The light bulb may never come on for the former Florida star, but if it does, he can become a valuable backup for Pittsburgh.
