2022 NFL Mock Draft: 2 quarterbacks land in the top-10
By Brad Weiss
Thanks to the trade they made with the Philadelphia Eagles, the New Orleans Saints will now hold two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. After picking a wide receiver at No. 16 overall, the Saints are back on the clock a few selections later and continue to bolster the offensive side of the ball.
The pick here at No. 19 is an offensive lineman, a position the Saints must continue to add to as they look to keep Jameis Winston upright. Kenyon Green is a versatile player who can play along the interior, or on the outside at the next level, while also providing depth if need be.
The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in Mitchell Trubisky to be their starter in 2022, but who knows how long that is going to last. Sure, he had some successes in Chicago and got glowing reviews as the backup in Buffalo, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will do well in the Steel City.
Looking ahead to the draft, the Steelers could certainly be in play for a quarterback, and why not bring in the player who dominated for the college team in Pittsburgh. Kenny Pickett is ticketed for the first round, and if he falls to No. 20 overall, landing with the Steelers would have to be a dream come true.
When it comes to the New England Patriots, you have to like their chances of getting back to the playoffs next season. The problem is, they have not won a playoff game in quite some time, and it appears that team owner Robert Kraft is starting to get a bit antsy.
There are issues on this roster on both sides of the ball, but they have to do something to help out in the secondary. Andrew Booth Jr. is a cornerback with tremendous upside, and if he is healthy, he could end up being one of the better young corners in the league next season.
The Green Bay Packers let Davante Adams go to the Las Vegas Raiders, sending him to Sin City via trade, and picking up this No. 22 overall pick among other assets. It is going to be impossible for them to replace Adams in 2022, and with Marquez Valdes-Scantling also leaving Green Bay, the wideout room needs reinforcements.
Enter Chris Olave, a dynamic playmaker from Ohio State who could at least soften the void left by the departure of these two key playmakers. Aaron Rodgers is going to be around for a while, and if they want to keep him happy, going wide receiver here makes too much sense.
