15) MLB Power Rankings: Los Angeles Angels

Any team with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on it has to be competitive. Otherwise, what’s the point?

The Los Angeles Angels were quietly productive this offseason. Well aware that pitching was their weakness, they took a chance on Noah Syndergaard for a year. More important, they built a bullpen with some great upside. Raisel Iglesias re-signed and they also brought in Ryan Tepera, Aaron Loup, and Archie Bradley off of good years. Do not underestimate this team.

14) MLB Power Rankings: St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals feel like they may be stuck in sentimentality. They brought back Albert Pujols and their biggest addition to the rotation was Steven Matz. It appears the Cardinals will try to win with their leftovers from last season.

This may be unpopular but this ball club just does not seemed destined to do much in 2022. They should consider themselves lucky to begin the season against the Pirates and Royals. Once they face tougher teams, their weaknesses should show more.

13) MLB Power Rankings: Seattle Mariners

You have to root for the Seattle Mariners to finally end their playoff drought. The longest ongoing one in the game, this could finally be the year they do it.

On the MLB Power Rankings to start the year, they are right on the fringe of making it. Their ultimate fate will be determined by how their young studs do. Some wise trade deadline moves could push them closer to a playoff spot. A division title may be out of reach. Fortunately, there are a lot of playoff spots available in 2022.

12) MLB Power Rankings: Philadelphia Phillies

Few teams have as much of a chance to become one of the best in the league or worst as the Philadelphia Phillies. Thank goodness for the DH in the National League. They are built like a traditional American League club.

If the Phillies don’t outslug their opponents regularly, it’s going to be a tough year. They begin the season a little bit better than the average ball club. If their hitting lives up to expectations and their pitching comes around, they can easily shoot up the rankings.

11) MLB Power Rankings: New York Mets

An injury to Jacob deGrom to begin the season drops the New York Mets early on. However, there is plenty of room for them to climb a little closer to the top spot.

The Mets went out and made some terrific additions this offseason. Their offense needs to perform better this season and their starting pitching will need to remain consistent throughout all 162 games in order for them to have any chance at the playoffs.
