5) MLB Power Rankings: Houston Astros

The offseason wasn’t a particularly productive one for the Houston Astros. They lost star shortstop Carlos Correa and did nothing to replace his presence in the lineup. Maybe they have enough. Maybe this is the year where they begin to falter.

The Astros are perennial contenders and despite not doing much this offseason, they have one of the game’s most formidable rosters. Fear not, Astros fans. This team should remain a favorite to win it all throughout the 2022 season.

4) MLB Power Rankings: Atlanta Braves

The defending champion Atlanta Braves have a chance to repeat as champions. A rare occurrence in the baseball world, they are coming back in 2022 with a lot of the same names and faces from last year but also a few new ones.

Matt Olson is their new first baseman. Ronald Acuna Jr. will be back into the mix at some point to help them out. Youngsters like Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies will help hold down the fort until then. The Braves, on offense and on the mound, have one of the best teams in baseball. Repeating as champions will be tough yet very possible.

3) MLB Power Rankings: Chicago White Sox

Are the Chicago White Sox good or is the American League Central just that weak? Although it won’t be as easy to win this year as it was last season, the Chicago White Sox are more than the best team in their own division. They could very well be one of the best teams in baseball.

The White Sox can score runs. They can also outpitch just about anyone. An incredibly balanced ball club, it would be a great disappointment if they don’t at least make a nice run to the ALCS.

2) MLB Power Rankings: Toronto Blue Jays

Representing all of Canada, we have one of the most exciting teams in baseball: the Toronto Blue Jays. A starting lineup that was already good added Matt Chapman to it. Their starting rotation also now has Jose Berrios for a full season and top-former Kevin Gausman.

Expectations are high for the Blue Jays this year. We should expect them and the White Sox to meet in the ALCS.

1) MLB Power Rankings: Los Angeles Dodgers

Watch enough baseball in recent years and you will learn to realize one should never doubt the Los Angeles Dodgers. While there may be some questions, the starting lineup is strong enough to carry them through some pitching injuries. The series loss to the Rockies to open the year shouldn’t be a sign of things to come.

Freddie Freeman is their new first baseman and Trea Turner will get a full season with the ball club. Imagine what this team can do if Cody Bellinger becomes his old self again. A roster with a nice mix of youth and experience, the Dodgers should be their typical Dodgers-selves in 2022.
