Who is going to the NBA Draft?

The Spartans could potentially lose four of their star players to the NBA draft this year, leaving spots open for Tom Izzo to fill.

Gabe Brown

Brown has entered the NBA draft, although he has one remaining year of eligibility left if he decides to return to Michigan State. Brown has been a key piece for Izzo and has been one of the most consistent players.

Brown averaged 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game and scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting against Duke in the NCAA Tournament. Brown has not been mentioned in any mock drafts, but he could land in the G League or overseas.

Marcus Bingham Jr.

Bingham’s departure is a big one for the program, as he has been a reliable center for the time spent in East Lansing. Though Bingham has had some inconsistency, he was a vital part of leading the 2019 squad to the Final Four and the Big Ten title win in 2020 with the COVID shortened year. Bingham has yet to be picked up on the NBA radar but could see himself starting in the G League or overseas to continue his career.

Joey Hauser

Hauser is one player that is on the fence between going pro or staying another year under Izzo. Hauser is the brother of Boston Celtics forward, Sam Hauser, and looks to continue the family name in basketball.

Max Christie

With three years of eligibility remaining, the freshman is taking a stab at the NBA Draft. Christie is a decent prospect for the draft, between his stats and winning Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times within two months.

Christie finished the season averaging 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Christie will go through the draft process which will allow for him to receive feedback and potentially raise his draft stock or decide to return to campus to play another year.
