1. Joey Gallo

Gallo has clearly been the Yankees’ weakest offensive regular this season and that’s not palatable at a corner outfield spot. His hold on the left-field spot is tenuous at best.

The good news for Gallo so far is that the Yankees don’t have a player ready to take his spot at the moment. Neither Marwin Gonzalez, Tim Locastro, or the aforementioned Andujar represent clear and obvious upgrades for manager Aaron Boone.

Gallo’s offensive struggles coupled with the reality that he’s on an expiring contract make him a prime trade candidate. He won’t bring back much in terms of a return, but New York might be incentivized to offload his contract if they need to create additional payroll flexibility to acquire a big-name player.

Internally, the Yankees want to see Gallo turn it around at the plate so they can continue to deploy his Gold Glove in left field. That doesn’t mean they’ll have infinite patience if he continues to look so lost at the plate. The clock is ticking for Gallo if he wants to carve out a continuation of his time in pinstripes.
