NFL Draft 2022: 10 best players available after Round 1
6. T Abraham Lucas (Washington State)
There’s some good news and some bad news when it comes to Washington State tackle Abraham according to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.
“He’s too upright as a drive blocker and too lumbering to get to lateral and second-level blocks. In pass protection, however, his length and power make him a wider target to circumvent for rushers, while his patience and core strength make him tougher to counter…Lucas is scheme-limited but has eventual starting potential at either right tackle or guard.”
The 6-6, 315-pound performer makes for an intriguing prospect.
5. QB Malik Willis (Liberty)
There were mixed feelings when it came to the Liberty University standout and former Auburn product. Quarterback Malik Willis began his collegiate career with the latter and didn’t see a lot of action with the Tigers. He sat out 2019 after transferring to Liberty. In his final two college campaigns, he threw for a combined 5,107 yards and 47 scores opposed to 18 interceptions.
Willis was thought to be on the radar of both the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The former addressed its offensive line with tackle Ikem Ekwonu. The Steelers drafted the only quarterback selected in the first round in Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett. It would be a shock if Willis isn’t gone by Friday evening.
