5. MLB Power Rankings: Milwaukee Brewers

The National League Central is indeed a two-team race. The one looking the best through the first few weeks of the season is the one that holds the Sausage Race: the Milwaukee Brewers. Distancing their lead from the Cardinals, the ball club boasts one of the best starting pitching groups and bullpens in baseball.

If only they can start to hit a little more consistently, the Brewers could find themselves all the way at number one on this list. Beating up on their weak divisional opponents is a necessity for Milwaukee all year long. They must refrain from taking their foot off the gas at any time. Otherwise, here come the Cardinals.

4. MLB Power Rankings: Toronto Blue Jays

No matter where the Toronto Blue Jays fall in the standings, they should be one of the most dangerous clubs to go off and win a bunch of games in a row. Their starting lineup is deadly. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is an absolute stud. George Springer has officially arrived and looks ready to be well worth his contract.

A few questionable bullpen pieces could be the biggest concern for Toronto right now. They have a few questions in the rotation as well. Given enough time and a few more tomato can opponents as the season progresses, they will surely lock themselves into a playoff spot.

3. MLB Power Rankings: New York Yankees

The New York Yankees keep finding ways to win games and if there’s only one reason why they aren’t ranked higher it’s because of their schedule. The team has only a 2-2 record against teams over .500 which isn’t their fault. It just means they’re taking care of business.

The club has gotten some surprisingly elite starting pitching from several different pitchers which has been the key to their success. Anthony Rizzo also looks like he has gotten comfortable in the Bronx. The Yankees, despite some flaws, yet again look like the team to beat in the American League. Things may only get tougher for the rest of baseball when they add further at the trade deadline.

2. MLB Power Rankings: Los Angeles Dodgers

In a fantastic position still, the Los Angeles Dodgers have run into some turbulence. Yes, they aren’t quite in first place in the National League West. Less than two dozen games into the season, they should remain a favorite in the National League.

Los Angeles has gotten a mix of good pitching and hitting. Signing Freddie Freeman looks to be more than just a luxury. He has been one of their better hitters. The only thing holding the Dodgers back from a number one spot this week is how tight their division is. They’ve lost a little bit of power because of it.

1. MLB Power Rankings: New York Mets

The New York Mets tossed only the second no-hitter in franchise history last week which only furthered their momentum heading out of April and into May. Their starting pitching has been spectacular despite the absence of Jacob deGrom. Huge performances from Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and Tylor Megill along with just about anyone else they’ve plugged into the spot have helped push the Mets into the number one spot.

The Mets have left little doubt in the minds of the fans. With Francisco Lindor seemingly prepared to perform actually how the franchise hoped he would when they traded for him in early 2021, this team is dangerous and the standings show it.
