2. The Red Sox prospect Connor Seabold should be called up next.

If you’re not excited about seeing Josh Winckowski toe the rubber, then maybe I can tempt you with Connor Seabold. The right-hander had a cup coffee in the major leagues last season and is one of the Boston Red Sox best pitching prospect.

Seabold’s changeup is a plus offering and it’s certainly helped him to a 1.74 ERA at Triple-A Worcester. The right-hander 15 punch outs in 20.2 innings of work this season. The more impressive stat, however, might be the five walks Seabold has surrendered this season.

Command is going to be Seabold’s calling card in the big leagues. His heater is nothing to write home about, living in the high-80s and low-90s, so commanding the strike zone will be key to Seabold’s success in the majors.

Injuries have been a question for Connor Seabold in the past, but it looks as though the right-hander has put those behind him. There’s little more that Saebold has to prove in the minors, and seeing as how Nick Pivetta leads the league in earned runs allowed this season, perhaps it’s time for the Red Sox to make a change.
