Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard seems to be in trade rumors constantly. People might not be able to believe a player could be as happy in Portland as they could be in Los Angeles, New York, or Miami. Either way, it seems every month we hear a different Damian Lillard rumor. So, inevitably, the Los Angeles Lakers will be included in those rumors.

This would obviously be a great fit (assuming Russell Westbrook is no longer a part of the equation). Adding Lillard to a team with James and Davis makes a lot of sense. He can create his own shot, but he can also help create chances for other players. He’s built players around him while in Portland, and he’s taken an overmatched team to the Western Conference Finals.

A simple Google search will find four or five trade proposals from Lakers bloggers looking to get Lillard in purple and gold. He’s coming off a major injury that cost him the end of this season. He only played 29 games this season after finishing it off with abdominal surgery. This is something that could linger into next season, so that might be something the Lakers should consider when trying to go all in one more time with James on the roster.

There’s also the report from November that Lillard met with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. That does have some teeth since the same thing happened with Westbrook before he called LA home again. However, this happened in the middle of the season, and nothing came to fruition then. The pieces likely don’t make a lot of sense, and it’s more than likely the Lakers will have to make more modest moves than one of the best stars in the game today.
