Conner Capel

Conner Capel was the Cardinals’ fifth-round pick in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft and will be Rule 5 draft-eligible.

The 24-year-old lefty outfielder is hitting .211/.242/.389 with a .632 OPS, seven stolen bases, four home runs, and 10 RBI. He’s had four walks, one triple, and three doubles. He has a strikeout rate of 15.2%.

The Cardinals have a very young outfield that includes Corey Dickerson, Harrison Bader, Tyler O’Neill, Dylan Carlson, Brendan Donovan, and Juan Yepez. Lars Nootbaar is at AAA Memphis and could return to St. Louis.

With many other good outfielders throughout the system, Capel appears to be a depth piece within the Cardinals system. The Cardinals should seek the opportunity to package Capel for a significant get and or pitching needs.
